History

Washington Terrace was established in April 1924 by Nelms Investment Group, emphasizing a suburban atmosphere of the neighborhood, yet observed that it was only three miles from the courthouse, long considered the center of Houston. Washington Terrace comprises 403 homes and is a T-shaped subdivision bordered by Alabama Street to the north, Blodgett Street to the south, Dowling Street to the west, and Ennis Street to the east.
