Who we are

Washington Terrace Civic Association is a registered 501(c)(3) organization recognized by the City of Houston and was voted the best civic association by The Houston Press in 2004.

Washington Terrace is a historic neighborhood located in the Third Ward of Houston, TX. We are committed to overseeing the needs, preservation, safety, and development of our 90-year old neighborhood.

Our neighborhood is represented by the following:

City of Houston District D, Complete Communities Third Ward, Houston Southeast Management District, Super Neighborhood 67, Northern Third Ward & more!

Washington Terrace Boundaries

History


Washington Terrace was established in April 1924 by Nelms Investment Group, emphasizing a suburban atmosphere of the neighborhood, yet observed that it was only three miles from the courthouse, long considered the center of Houston. Washington Terrace comprises of single and multi-family homes and is a subdivision bordered by Alabama Street to the north, Blodgett Street to the south, Emancipation Street to the west (to Hwy 288), and Ennis Street to the east.
